One Leaf Falls To The Ground
One leaf falls to the ground.
The weight of August’s rain saturates the earth.
Green leaves catching rain.
Birds fly quickly from one tree to another.
The butterflies who are whiter than today’s sky are not here, but the hummingbird is
For a moment.
These are things I observe before I stare at the space between leaves, which is another way of saying the sky.
What is and what is not.
I am looking through.
As I concentrate my gaze
A mandala of green, shimmering, emerges.
Softening edges
Becoming another way to see.
I am aware of my stillness
The rain falling
Fluctuating perception
My hands holding a cup
The coming in
The going out
Of it All.
